NACCHO Invites Local Health Departments to apply for Peer Membership Programs on Program Standards

Published: October 3, 2014

For the fourth year in a row, NACCHO is pleased to invite local health departments (LHDs) to submit applications for participation in a peer mentorship program that provides opportunities to learn, share experiences, and acquire tools and resources related to the FDA Voluntary National Retail Food Regulatory Program Standards (Retail Program Standards).

The mentorship program connects LHD practitioners who are experienced in applying the Retail Program Standards with those newly enrolled and looking for assistance, guidance, tools, resources and recommendations for achieving a specific standard.

NACCHO plans to award approximately $230,000 in total to participants. Anticipated award amounts range from up to $10,000 per selected mentee LHD, and between $8,000 and $18,000 per selected mentor LHD (exact amounts will vary based on number of mentees). The program duration is from Dec. 1, 2014 to Aug. 31, 2015, and awardees should be notified of their acceptance in mid-to-late November.

NACCHO will be accepting applications through 8 PM EDT on Oct. 31, 2014, and has issued a Request for Applications (RFA) that provides further details about the program and application process. Those interested in pursuing the mentor track should respond to the Request for Applications to Become a Mentor; those who seek guidance should respond to the Request for Applications to Receive Mentorship.

Additionally, NACCHO will host two RFA informational sessions:

· Oct. 6, 2014, 1:00-1:30 PM
